Local employers can support Maidstone CAN by using their paid volunteering time to help our community — most often at our monthly Repair Café, but also on litter picks and nature projects around Maidstone.

Repair Café
Our flagship monthly event. Volunteers work alongside our regular team to help local people fix broken items instead of throwing them away. No repair experience is needed for most roles — there’s something for every skill set:

| Greeter / Registration | Welcoming visitors and logging items being repaired |
| Repairer | Fixing electrical items, textiles, furniture, bikes and more (skills-dependent) |
| Triage / Admin support | Helping sort the queue, take notes, log outcomes on our tracking system |
| Café / Refreshments | Serving tea, coffee and cake to visitors and volunteers |
| Setup / Pack-down | Helping set up tables and equipment at the start and end of the day |
| Photography / Social media | Capturing the event for our publicity, with visitors’ permission |
| Floating helper | General support wherever it’s needed on the day |
Litter Picking
Regular sessions keeping Lockmeadow clean and tidy. Everything needed is provided — gloves, bags, litter pickers and hi-vis. A good option for weekday-only groups, and easy to fit around other commitments.

Planting & Nature Projects
Seasonal tree and bulb planting, and other nature-focused projects around Maidstone, run with partner groups such as Bearsted CAN. Get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s coming up or help arrange something for your team.

Group size
We can usually accommodate small groups at a single event, 3 – 5 people, we’d recommend spreading volunteers across more than one date so everyone gets a meaningful role on the day.
What we provide and ask
- A friendly induction and clear role on the day
- Tools and equipment for repair roles
- Tea, coffee and cake for volunteers
- Advance notice of numbers and any access requirements, so we can plan roles
